I'm the one with the dog fighting/treating the irritated paws. I'm even beginning to wonder if it's not some sort of fungal infection or yeast. Does yeast smell like a stinky sour cheese smell? It's on her skin mostly I smell it coming from her belly and under her arm pits. Just today I noticed that her "elbows" on the front are irritated too. This would make sense since the paws do not want to heal.

Time for a trip to the vet..........and preferable a dermatologist. Having to wear a cone to prevent chewing has to be agonizing for her since it sounds as tho the paws are constantly bothering her. Sounds like whatever it is has now spread over her body.

My dog had a yeast infection caused by an allergic irritation on his skin and it gave him a weird smell. The vet gave him shampoo that took care of it.

That smell is usually due to excessive sebum production, often secondary to allergic and/or bacterial/fungal (including yeast) skin disease (pyoderma). But the primary problem is usually allergies, which are not simply controlled, though shampoos can help some. Agree with a dermatology visit, as that will cut to the chase the fastest, and you will avoid a lot of unnecessary treatments that may not work.

I have the same problem with my chihuahua! The vet has tried several rounds of antibiotic and 3 different shampoos. It is back again. I guess the dermatologist is the next step. Would be interested to hear of anyone else has gotten an answer that fixed the problem?

Do you have dark skin

2005-12-02 14:15:00 by fromyesterday

Could be tinnea versicolor. often shows up light spots on people with darker skin. i've had outbreaks for years. some things that help me are: acidopholous + washing the area with dandruff shampoo + apple cider vinegar (about a tablespoon a day mixed with water).
if it's tv, there are pills, but they give me a bad reaction and more natural stuff clears it up just as well. for me, it takes about a week to 10 days, doing it naturally. the pills seem to take longer.
and yeah, tv is a fungus that grows on everyone. only grows faster/stronger on some people. not contagious, not harmful

I was just talking about this today! Back in the 80's, when you got a new piercing they told us to treat it with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol...well that backfired big!!
What happens is you dry the skin with those, and it causes microscopic or even macroscopic cracks! Doesn't take long for a bacteria or even fungus to make that a home! What you did, in essence, is open up an apartment for germs! The skin is our number ONE defence...and oops, those items break the wall!
Not only does it do that, but can change temp on spot. The immune system opens up the blood vessles there to heal the spot (increase in temp to open

  • Avatar psychgirl21 Is it possible to have a build up of yeast in your body, without ever experiencing a vaginal yeast infection?
    Sep 05, 2007 by psychgirl21 | Posted in Women's Health

I think i may have a build up of yeast inside my body. i have a lot of the symptoms such as memory loss, fatigue, dry skin, mood changes, allergies, & at times i can even taste yeast when i swallow or blow my nose. i'm just wondering if it's possible to have a yeast build up in my body, yet never experience a vaginal yeast infection. i just figured if i do have a yeast build up, it would have affected me vaginally by now, but it hasn't.

    • You can't have yeast build up, without having some yeast infection some place in your body; since yeast is a bi-produce of an over production of bacteria that is normally found in our intestines, but ends up getting out …u are saying you have.

Whatever the cause, don't just let it keep going on, find out now. You wait long enough, you might be left in a situation that can't be fixed.

      Take care of yourself.
